Vegetation Clearance, Leeds Bradford Airport

Project Information

Tree Care Company were commissioned to clear vegetation along an embankment that runs parallel to the runway. The overall area to be cleared was approximiately 6,500 m²  whilst the airport was still fully active. The vegetation (ranging from mature trees to shrubbery) was hand cut by chainsaw operators then processed with the aid of a tracked whole tree chipper and forestry mulch.

Project Challenge

The project took hours of rigorous planning to ensure the work could be undertaken in a safe manner without jeopardizing air traffic cancellations or requiring night work.
